Do as the Romans Do with Underfloor Heating

When it comes to state of the art heating, it might seem a little counterintuitive to hark back to Roman times. However, the Romans actually invented the first kind of central heating, which was based on heating properties from underneath the floor.

The effectiveness of such a system is still as relevant today as it ever was. Naturally, in the modern day electricity is used, but the basic premise remains the same: the heat source exists beneath the floors, and so radiates high quality heat around a property.

For the most part we are used to heating our homes using radiators mounted to the walls, or portable electric heaters. However, electric underfloor heating is not just equally effective to these methods, but potentially more so.

Heating from the ground upwards is an extremely effective way to heat a household. This is because rather than focusing heat around wall mounted heaters for example, with underfloor heating systems the heat is spread throughout the building.

This makes underfloor heating very effective in bathroom spaces. Everybody knows the discomfort of a cold bathroom, and especially cold bathroom floors. An underfloor heater ensures that bathroom floors are kept at a constant temperature, to add a little touch of luxury to any bathroom.

An underfloor heater might sound like an expense (and feel like one) however with thermostatic controls households can actually save money by carefully controlling their central heating.
