The first thing to consider before you just go-ahead with anything to build is the house floor plan. Most of the home builders will have extra charge for the same and will probably sell a design out of the huge collection of design catalog. Now, a good idea would be to choose the floor plan yourself before even going to a house builder. There are hundreds and hundreds of floor plans available on the internet for free to download and make edits if you want.
Make sure you do a thorough search and scrutinize most of the websites with similar information about floor plans and different designs for different dimensions. After all, the floor plan acts as the design of the house and has everything else depend on it. Regretting after the construction has already begun or is in the phase of completion would not be good for your pocket and you would end up losing a lot of precious time as well.
If possible, try to make a few edits or create as much as five variations with different settings for rooms before going to the house builder as it would guide the deal in a way you want with you in the lead position. Keep in mind all the aspects before even you are final with the floor plan such as the location and position of bathrooms, the distance from kitchen to other rooms, closets (walk ins or close/attached to bed or mounted to walls), laundry room and of course the parking.
